Originally published in 1918 by the L. S. Starrett Company, the World's Greatest Toolmakers, this Vol.2 of The Starrett Books is a companion volume or a sequel to The Starrett Book for Machinists' Apprentices. It is a tabular presentation of information regarding machine-shop practice and the materials of manufacture. Little or no attempt has been made to explain the "why" or "how" of a statement. The work is designed to help the machinist to a greater degree of efficiency, and it differs radically from Vol.1 of The Starrett Books, which is essentially a book on "How to do it."
