Owen Jones (1809 ~ 1874) was a British architect, decorative artist, author and educator. Through his efforts to publish his findings on the historic use of color in decoration, he also became one of the pioneers of chromolithography.

His masterwork, The Grammar of Ornament, soon became one of the defining works in ornamentation and decorative arts, since it was first published in 1856.

The 1910 edition of The Grammar of Ornament, illustrates 112 original color plates with various style of ornament drawn from 19 different cultures, is an essential picture book offering the supreme expression of Victorian taste in historical decoration, and serves as a definitive source of reference and inspiration for designers of wallpaper, furniture, architectural decoration, and fabric worldwide.
