This classic apron book contains patterns, instructions and illustrations on how to make 12 different styles of fancy and sewing aprons. It also has a smaller section on how to make sunbonnets and sun hats.

Originally published in the 1910s, this book was created for the students of the Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences as their text, so the instructions given are very detailed and clear. It's one of best apron-making references ever published.

Book Excerpt:

Besides having aprons that cover the dress well in doing housework, the woman in the home always finds it convenient to have on hand small fancy aprons that she may wear while sewing or while serving guests, or that she may lend to her guests. Such aprons in many instances add greatly to a woman's neatness and are generally a great source of satisfaction to them...

Sheer materials, such as dotted Swiss, flaxon, lawn, dimity, voile, and so on, are principally used in making these dainty aprons, and many pleasing effects are to be had with the aid of embroidery stitches, insertion, and lace...

The shapes and designs of fancy and sewing aprons are varied... It is the intention here to impart to the woman who sews information about fancy and sewing aprons that will qualify her to make any style of apron she sees. The preparation of patterns for many different styles of fancy aprons, as well as the construction of the aprons themselves, is taken up and explained carefully. Once the making of such aprons as are here treated is mastered, she should experience no difficulties, for, as should be borne in mind, the body part of fancy aprons is always similar; in fact, the real style difference generally lies in the outlines of the apron and the way in which it is trimmed.
