Originally published in 1962, this stimulating book is the magnificent result of a lifetime of study and scholarship devoted to Catholicism in the modern world. Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, world-famous lecturer, writer, philosopher and teacher, wrote about such provocative and significant questions as:

  • Atheists and saints
  • How to psychoanalyze yourself
  • Flesh vs. the spirit
  • What are the four tests of a normal life?
  • Why do the innocent suffer?
  • Is man the captain of his destiny?
  • The three great confessions of history
  • Is there a mystery in your life?

About the author -- Excerpt from the Wikipedia:

Fulton John Sheen (1895 - 1979) was an American bishop (later archbishop) of the Roman Catholic Church known for his preaching and especially his work on television and radio. His cause for canonization as a saint was officially opened in 2002. In June 2012, Pope Benedict XVI officially recognized a decree from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints stating that he lived a life of "heroic virtues" -- a major step towards beatification -- so he is now referred to as "Venerable".
