Dr. Bates, who once practiced traditional ophthalmology and held in high esteem by his colleagues, eventually rejected the theories that the traditional eye-care community accepted as fact. In 1920, Dr. Bates published his work as Perfect Eyesight without Glasses, also known as The Cure of Imperfect Sight by Treatment without Glasses.
